Library Monkey Pro may be customized in a variety of ways. The following describes the various options in the Preferences window.
General
Import
- Import Spotlight/Finder Comments - Turn this option on to import the Spotlight/Finder comments when importing files. Importing the comments requires interaction with the macOS Finder for each file so if this is not needed, performance during import can be improved by turning this off.
- Error Reporting - Specify what to do when errors are encountered during import:
- Display Each - Display the error and pause importing.
- Log Window - Display the error in the Log Window and continue importing.
- Silent - Ignore the error and continue importing.
Display
- Time Reference/Time Stamp Units - Specify the display format for times throughout the application:
- HH:MM:SS (ex. 1:04:03)
- HHhMMmSSs (ex. 1h04m03s)
- HH:MM:SS.SS (ex. 1:04:03.15)
- HHhMMmSS.SSs (ex. 1h04m03.15s)
- Samples
- 24fps Timecode
- 25fps Timecode
- 30fps Drop-Frame Timecode
- 30fps Non Drop-Frame Timecode
- Display Help in Asset List - Turn this option on to display the help message in the Asset List. The help message will contain the full text of any data that cannot be fully displayed in the list.
Editing
- Double-click in Asset List - Specify the double+click action for the Asset List:
- Nothing - Ignore double+clicks.
- Play - Begin playing the first selected item.
- Edit Text - Begin editing the text if the item is textual and can be edited.
- Open in Waveform Editor - Open the audio asset in the Waveform Editor.
- Double-click in Lists - Specify the double+click action for all lists other than the Asset List:
- Nothing - Ignore double+clicks.
- Edit Text - Begin editing the text if the item is textual and can be edited.
Playback
- Read Ahead Buffer - Specify the length of the playback read-ahead buffer to limit skipping. If you experience skipping during playback, increase the buffer size.
Processing
- Log Errors and Continue Processing - Turn on this option to have Library Monkey Pro display any errors encountered during processing in the Log Window. This can be helpful when performing unattended processing but need to know about any issues that were encountered.
- Put Processing Info in the Spotlight/Finder Comments - Turn this option on to have Library Monkey Pro add the Date, Time, File Type, Audio and Video Codec, Bit Depth, Sample Rate, Channels and Plugins used to the Spotlight/Finder comment for each output file.
- Make Split Filenames Conform to Pro Tools Conventions - Pro Tools split files have 2 extensions - the channel and the file type. Turn this option on to have Library Monkey Pro create output files with the appropriate naming for direct import into Pro Tools.
- Automatically Make the Output Format Valid - On rare occasions, the combination of source assets and processing settings results in an illegal output format.
- Turn this option on to have Library Monkey Pro automatically adjust the output format to make it legal.
- Turn this option off to have Library Monkey Pro display an alert and allow you to adjust the settings yourself.
- Split Files - Specify the filename format when outputting split files.
- Sample Rate - Specify the sample rate that Library Monkey Pro uses for internal processing of audio assets:
- If you have special requirements, you can specify directly the sample rate to use.
- Select Dynamic to use the highest sample rate that is appropriate for the process. This is usually the higher of the source asset sample rate and the specified sample rate in the Audio tab.
Split Audio File Extension Sets
Split files are recognized by their extensions. Library Monkey Pro needs to have an extension set defined for each group of extensions in use at your facility. Many common sets are already provided.
For a given number of channels, Library Monkey Pro needs to know which extension set to use for export. Click the radio button in the Default column to specify which extension set to use for this number of channels.
To Create a New Split File Extension Set
- Click New... and the Extension List window will appear.
- Adjust the number of channels by using the little arrows.
- Edit the extensions as necessary.
- When everything is set, click the OK button.
To Edit an Existing Extension Set
- Select the extension set in the list
- Click the Edit... button and the Extension List window will appear.
- Adjust the settings as necessary as described above.
To Remove an Existing Extension Set
- Select the extension set in the list.
- Click the Remove button.
Naming Options
When files are exported in Sound Grinder Pro, in addition to the built-in naming options, you can create any number of custom naming options for use in your production environment.
To Create a New Naming Option
- Click the New... button and the Naming Option Settings window will appear.
- Enter a name for the Naming Option.
- Specify the separator string to be used.
- Select what data item is to be used for the first part of the output filename.
- Click the (+) button to add additional data items.
- Click the OK button when everything is set.
To Edit an Existing Naming Option
- Select the naming option in the list.
- Click the Edit... button and the Naming Option Settings window will appear.
- Adjust the settings as necessary as described above.
To Remove a Naming Option
- Select the naming option in the list.
- Click the Remove button.
- Disallow Spaces in Filenames - Convert spaces in filenames to "_" on export.
Main Window
Displayed
Turn the checkbox on to display this field in the Convert Window. After clicking OK, return to the Convert Window and reorder the columns by dragging the column title to the left or right.
Display alert when closing with unsaved changes
Turn on to display the standard alert sheet that you are closing the window with unsaved changes. Turn off to close the window without displaying this alert. !
Rapid Convert
Specify the settings for when Rapid Convert (Default Settings) is initiated. Refer to the Process section of this document for more information on the settings. Refer to the Rapid Convert section of this document for more information on Rapid Convert.
