Once you have created your libraries, you can manage your them with the following features:
To Reconnect a Library
Library Monkey will track folders as they move around on the hard drive or server. However, sometimes Library Monkey will lose its connection to a folder and the Library Name will be gray. To reconnect the Library, do t!he following:
- Get Started
- Select the Library in the Master List and select Reconnect Library... from the Database menu.
- CONTROL+click on the Library and select Reconnect Library... from the contextual menu.
- Select the folder for the Library and click Choose.
To Update a Library
When audio assets are added to or removed from the folder on the hard drive or server, Library Monkey needs to update the Database.
To update the database:
-
Select the Library in the Master List and select Update Library from the Database menu.
-
CONTROL+click on the Library and select Update Library from the Contextual Menu.
-
Click the (update) icon. The Importing Folder into Database window will appear, followed by the Remove Assets dialog if necessary, followed by the Writing Database window.
You can easily export the Database and import it on another computer. This can be very helpful when using one station to set up the Database in preparation for deploying on multiple stations.
To Export the Database
-
Select Export Database... from the Database menu.
-
Select the destination file and click Save.
-
The Writing Database window will appear during the export.
To use the Database features of Library Monkey, the first step is to import audio assets. Once assets are imported they can be viewed, organized and processed as needed. The following steps describe the importing process.
Note: If you are adding a folder that corresponds to a library already in the database, then you will not be prompted for a library name and the existing library will simply be updated.
IMPORTANT! Files are NOT stored in Library Monkey. Library Monkey maintains only a reference to the file(s)/folder(s) already on your hard drive or servers. If, at any time, Library Monkey cannot find the referenced file(s)/folder(s), the assets will appear gray in the lists.
To Remove a Library
-
Select the Library(s) in the Master List.
-
Do either:
-
Select Remove Library(s)... from the Database menu
-
CONTROL+click on one of the Libraries and select Remove Library(s)... from the contextual menu.
-
The Confirm Remove Library/Libraries Alert will appear. Click Remove to remove these libraries.
-
All references to the assets in the Library(s) will be removed from the database including any references in any Sets or Smart Sets.
